General Operatives

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for General Operatives to prepare and pack a wide range of breads and cakes. This role will require working effectively as part of a team in a semi-automated production line. This is an initial 2 month contract with potential for extension post completion of contract.

Responsibilities include, mixing dough, preparing fillings, moulding cakes, and operating packaging machinery. To be successful in this role, work experience in a bakery is desired, although not essential. Twomey’s Bakery offer industry leading on the job training to those that are newcomers to the industry. Ultimately, your role as a General Operative will be to make sure we offer fresh and delicious goods to our customers on a daily basis.

General Operative Roles include:

  • Work as part of a team to produce high volumes of fresh and delicious goods for our customers on a daily basis
  • Shape and mould dough to prepare different types of bread and cakes
  • Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough
  • Mix various ingredients to create fillings for cakes and pies
  • Operate Packaging machinery to ensure effective packing of high volumes of products before wider distribution
  • Deep Clean bakery equipment and tools before and after use
  • Keep up to date records for product traceability & quality control
  • Early Morning shift work available
  • Weekend work will be required at times

 

Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience with professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters or in a similar General Operative role is a bonus but not essential
  • Understanding of food safety practices is a bonus but not essential. On the job training will be provided
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
  • Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
  • Flexibility to work early morning shifts
